Of course, the value of a Palestinian's life is worthless to that of an Israeli's. So should we expect any attention to be paid to that of an unborn child still in her mother's tummy. Of course, what the story doesn't explicitly state, is the Israeli soldier shot his gun directly into the pregnant woman's stomach and the bullet went right through the skull of the fetus.

Divide and occupy. Inhibit free movement of people in their own lands and of course the focus is on Israel's right to exist???

US Iraq troops 'condone torture'

The Pentagon survey found that less than half the troops in Iraq thought Iraqi civilians should be treated with dignity and respect.

More than a third believed that torture was acceptable if it helped save the life of a fellow soldier or if it helped get information about the insurgents.

About 10% of those surveyed said they had actually mistreated Iraqi civilians by hitting or kicking them, or had damaged their property when it was not necessary to do so. (Source: BBC News, May 4, 2007)

Dying bees, toast, devalued lives

• Bees are suddenly dying en-masse for inexplicable reasons. Strange. Lets not leave this stone unturned. A strange foreboding of larger implications to come?

• Olmert is toast. So is Wolfowitz. If they hang on, it'll be because of larger undemocratic interests at play. Corruption begets corruption.

• A U.S. General's report claims that the devaluation of Iraqi lives by U.S. Marines led to the unlawful killing of civilians in Haditha in 2005.

• The British don't seem above the fray either when it comes to dishing out cruelty to innocents in Iraq.
